i've felt too much like an elder this week

Hey guys!!

This week....haha well to explain the subject, we've had so many crazy things happen to us this week at I imagine it's how an elder would feel. (sorry elders)

We didn't have a car for a few days, so we rode bikes. Long story short, we got out of a lesson and had to go to a meeting at the church, and we didn't have anywhere to hook our bikes on to, so we left them in a shed in a backyard. We went back to get them around 9, and luckily they were still there and we tied them to the bike rack of another hermana's car with a hair dye stained t-shirt.

Another reason I've felt like an elder: last Monday night we passed by our invs and had a really powerful lesson about the Plan of Salvation. As we finished, we were hurrying out because it was around 9:20, and I realized when we got to our car, that I left the keys on the floor of their house when I got up to saludar the investigator. So we go back, and they turn their whole living room upside down to find the keys for about 10 minutes. Then I check my bag one more time.....they are in my bag. Yep. So that was a good time. Needless to say, they didn't come to church this week lol.

Also we got a new companion!! Hermana Hudrlik is from Cali and has about 6 months in the mission. Lots of people had told me "oh wow, you are now a mom of 2 greenies!" Haha it's an adventure. God is defs keeping me on my toes here in Houston:)

I've had an idea this past few weeks to post something on Facebook to help others, now that we have the wonderful tool. Hermana Jacobs and I decided to take a video of us sharing our testimonies and post it. Because of shares from other missionary friends, the video is now in Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and of course Houston. It has been so good to flood social media with GOOD.

In my Book of Mormon reading I am in 3 Nephi. Something that has stuck out to me is that after Christ taught the Nephites in the Americas, He told them to go home, ponder on the things which he had taught, and pray for understanding. I have realized the importance of that in my life. There is a difference between reading studying and pondering. Pondering, for me, is the thinking and praying I do after studying. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Christ lives. He loves us and is waiting for us to return to Him with wide open arms.

Also, who's pumped for general conference thus weekend?? I'm so excited to receive answers to my questions.

LOVE YOU guys!!

even the birds are sick here in Houston

HEY GUYS

I'm gonna be honest. We literally didn't do anything this week cause as soon as I got better with the ugly flu, Hermana Jacobs got hit hard! It was rough, but the good news is that I cleaned our apartment really well!!

We were able to have a few lessons with the Familia Hernández this week! Unfortunately they didn't come to church, but they are reading the Book of Mormon and have a desire to change :) our WML has been a huge help with them!

Speaking of desire, I've been thinking about desire a lot this week. I watched the 2016 and 2017 missionary training broadcasts, and I learned a lot about desire. It all starts with desire in the gospel. Desire to let the missionaries in, desire to read the pamphlet, desire to read the Book of Mormon and desire to know if it's true. We must have the desire as well as missionaries. Desire to be obedient and to help those around us. And when that desire is with true intent, the Lord can give His children really answers and show them how much He loves them.

I am loving life here in Houston!! Spreading the gospel is the best thing I could be doing at this point in my life. The Book is so true and it can change lives if you allow yourself to drink deeply from the pages.

Have a good week and I love you all, thanks for the support 😊😊

the flu

HOLA AMIGOS🙃

Week two in lockHOOD was good. We were able to visit a lot of our progressing investigators, eat some delicious tacos, and get bit by the terrible flu. All in a weeks work:)

We are teaching the Familia Hernandez and they are awesome. Super listo. They got invited to church by a member a few weeks back, and we were able to give them a church tour this week! It was really spiritual, even with all 6 kids jumping around, and they told us that they want to get baptized! The mom, Sandra, has been through so much in her life, and we just know how much the Gospel will be able to help her and her family. We are working with them to continue to progress.

There is a member family who owns a taco stand, and let me tell you ---> the most amazing tacos. We look forward to it every Thursday. They use this secret sauce and they are the yummiest tacos I've ever tried!!

Yep, you guessed it. I got the dang flu. I started feeling sick on Wednesday, didn't think anything of it, and then Saturday I woke up, we left to go on our morning walk, and I felt like I couldn't even make it home, I was so weak. :( it was terrible!! So I slept all day long on Saturday and couldn't even make it to stake conference yesterday:( I just didn't have any energy to do anything! But I was able to get lots of rest and during church we went on exchanges and Hermana Young stayed with me in our apartment and I just laid there and we just caught up.

I had an amazing experience this week with being knowing how much our Heavenly Father is aware of us and our every need. I received a blessing this past weekend because I've been pretty sick, and I know that God is aware of our every need. He hears the silent pleadings of our heart. He is aware of our needs and will help us as we call upon Him for assistance.

It's all good in the lockHOOD

HELLO homies

#birthdayweek was good here in Lockwood or what it's known as, lockHOOD. Yes, there is a policeman who walks the parking lot every night to make sure nothing sketchy is happening.

Here is totally different than my other areas, it's basically like a little pocket of what I would imagine is Mexico! Tons of taco trucks, washerterias, and my favorite....HISPANICS. Finding here is so easy. God is blessing us so much. There are so many prepared people here, and Hermana Jacobs still has a ton of greeny fire, so we are getting along great:)

Well Texas, thanks for celebrating my 21st with a lot of sunshine and the best tacos ever.

The ward here is awesome and a little crazy. It's always fun going to a new ward and have it like stepping into a whole new world. :)

I've learned a lot this week about where my comfort zone is, and going outside of it. Hermana Jacobs is helping me reach outside of it. This transfer is going to be good.

I love being a missionary. As we are driving in the car, all I can think about is how much being a missionary lights up my world. The changes are hard, but I just know that the mission is preparing you for the rest of life.
