Caught in the rain

HELLO EVERYONE!

I am so happpppy here in Texas! The Lord is helping us and blessing us with so many miracles! We had a lesson this week with our inv named Teresa, and she said during the lesson "I'm Catholic, but I feel the truth of your words. I feel like I am convinced of what you are saying and what is written in they book is true". WHAT, so cool. We talked about the spirit and she said she felt inspired!!!

Also, we went to go contact a reference, and here in Texas is known for random DOWNPOURS. So we are standing outside of a trailer, and then they answered, and said they would be right back, and left us in the middle of this rainstorm, and we stood there for about 10 minutes waiting, in the POURING rain! So we ended up getting soaked....it was good :)

Hey look mom I'm being healthy and eating good! We are just working hard, organizing the area and fixing everything and of course knocking on lots of doors!!!

Have a good week! Hopefully the pictures make up for the short email....sorry mom haha Have a good week and know that I love you all...and I love Christ and I am so happy to be here serving Him. I love this Gospel and I know that it's so true!

xoxo

Whitewashing is fun to do, to do, to do

BUENO!

Hey guys! How was everyone's first full week without me?? Was it as hard as it was for me? No just kidding, this week was full of learning.

I can now honestly say three things. 1. that I know that I am here in the Texas Houston East Mission for a reason, and that God needs me here. 2. that I KNOW that Christ lives, that He came to America after He was resurrected to visit His people. 3. that I am totally, 1000%, completely in love with the members and people here. I love Spanglish and everyone here.

Fun fact about Texas, is that they only drink bottled water here! It's super weird to me because at home the tap water is so yummy and fresh! It also kills me that we have to buy water because anyone who knows me, knows that I drink 3 gallons of water a day haha.

This week was good here with the work! We are slowly changing the things the elders were doing but it's so amazing the miracles we are seeing!

We spent all Saturday and Sunday mucking out houses!! Driving to the first house almost broke my heart....there was allllll of the stuff from everyone's houses out on the curbs....as we were helping the first woman we went to clean out her house, and we took everything, I mean everything out of her house! We took out the sheetrock, insulation and everything up until to the first 4 feet. We stripped everything to studs and it smelled like some real good mold BUT when we asked her how she was she just said "well it's just stuff! My family is ok" I was amazed. Here is a woman who has nothing, yet she's not worried about it. She's not worried about the things in her life. It made me really stop and think!

As we were cleaning out houses I thought of something else as well...we were cleaning out a really old house, one with mold everywhere, and they had waited about 2 weeks to clean out their house. It made me think about repentance. We should never delay repenting, because it then gets harder and harder to do! Never delay it! We should repent daily to show our gratitude towards our Savior for His atonement!

Also, my area is in Humble, Texas! West Lake Houston Norte is our area and ward and they are the best. They have my heart already...I feel in love with them the moment I met them all.

I LOVE you all so much! Have a great week and make sure to say your daily prayers :))))

I LOVE the sunsets here...they give Utah a run for their money

The piles of stuff outside all the houses!
There's a town about 15 minutes from our house that got hit pretty bad!

My district is almost all hermanas and it's awesome!

Hola hola como estan??

It's only been 2 days here in Texas, but I can honestly say that I am already LOVING IT. There is so much excitement and energy with my comp and mission President that it's hard not to be fired up. :)))

FLOOD UPDATE: All the water has receded, but we are still doing lots of cleanup. The past few weeks before I got here, they were serving all day, everyday! But now we are serving on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays! We just got a text this morning from the bishop that said we are meeting on Sunday at 8 am to have the Sacrament and then go out and serve...they even gave us boots and gloves and a mask! I'm so excited.

My comp is Hermana Young from....Provo Utah :) She's technically my trainer but she told me the since i'm trained, she thinks its best if we are just comps! Love her so much. We get along just great! She has 5 months in the mission and is so awesome! We are WHITE WASHING! an elder's area...so it will be good! We are learning so much every second and trying to figure out who and what is around us! It's an adventure that we are ready for!

My mission president is THE BEST. I already feel so comfortable around him and he is so excited to do missionary service. His wife is from BOUNTIFUL of all places, and I told her I knew a few of her friends and she says "how do you already know all of my best friends?" haha.  She reminds me of my sweeeeet mom :)

There were 20 of us who flew together and arrived here yesterday! It's exciting! We've already seen so many milagros these past 24 hours. We were planning for our day, and got a text from the church office saying that we have received a reference! So cool, because we got to our house at 9 last night so haven't gotten to know the area yet. I love it here and being a missionary!! <3 I love spanglish and hearing it at libraries and grocery stores and the street.

Pray for Houston!! and your fav lil Hermana down here! Ya me voy! bye
